Course Summary

Are you a teacher who facilitates classes using digital tools or would like to? Do you want to use digital tools in class effectively in your virtual or face-to-face classes?

Come and explore the best free digital tools to boost your students’ motivation, use meaningful assessment tools and promote your student’s engagement and active participation. You will discover interactive presentation tools, user-friendly virtual platforms, collaborative tools, multimedia forums, gamification, and storytelling apps.

​

If you use digital tools together with effective digital pedagogies the effects are even more positive than just using the tools. Learn about using Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) strategies in face-to-face and online contexts, making students feel safe and part of a community. Understand the importance and difference in digital communication with your students, use multimedia formats to communicate too, and tactful language and tone for the virtual space, such as messages and emails.

During this course, you will gain an understanding of different free digital tools and e-pedagogy to improve your technologically enriched face-to-face classes or your virtual classes alike. By the end of the course, you will be able to find and use digital tools efficiently in your classes, fostering your students’ motivation to learn and have a positive mindset about your classes. You will feel more confident using digital tools and teaching strategies that align with your virtual teaching environment.

Dr. Carolina Castro

​

Carolina is an experienced educator with 21 years of teaching career in Primary, Secondary and Tertiary education in Europe, USA and Australia. She started using digital technologies in her classes from 2006, embracing a long-term process, where she experimented and improved strategies and techniques on how to choose and implement new tools and e-pedagogies.

 

For the last 5 years, she has trained teachers from Europe, Asia and Australia, and she has collaborated with educational foundations and whole schools around the world. Carolina has a B.A. in English Language and Literature, an M.A. in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language, and a Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics and Education. Some of her topics of expertise are Project-Based Learning, Project-Based Language Learning, Social and Emotional Learning, Digital tools for education, CLIL, Life skills, Pedagogy and E-Pedagogy among others.

 

She has presented in academic conferences, professional events for teachers and doctoral seminars around the world, online and face to face. When Carolina's PhD thesis was published, it was one of the few examples in the world of a foreign languages' practitioner using PBLL together with digital technologies sharing her experience. 

Essential Info

Duration: 25 hours the face-to-face option and if you hire the blended add-on the number of hours will be 30.

​

Certificate: A completion certificate will be provided when participants attend a minimum of 80% of the course.

​

Language: The course will be facilitated in English. Participants need to have a minimum of a B1 to attend.

​

Activities: Cultural activities will be included for participants in each course.

​

Schedule: Sessions can take place in the morning (9h to 14h) or the afternoon (15h to 20h). The day by day timetable posted here is tentative, your trainer will send it to you one week before the course begins and she may change it depending on the group needs accordingly.

​

Blended Add-On: All courses can have an optional blended add-on that consists of 2 videoconference group sessions 2 and 6 weeks after the face-to-face course to follow up on progress and give support for the implementation of the knowledge and skills acquired.
